China Optometric & Optical Association (COOA)

China Optometric & Optical Association (COOA) is the only national industry organization in China's optical sector, established in 1985 and approved by the State Ministry of Light Industry in conjunction with multiple ministries including the Ministries of Commerce, Health, and Machine Building. COOA is a non-profit social organization with more than 1,000 members spanning manufacturers, wholesale operators, optical dispensing enterprises, colleges, research institutions, hospitals, and regional optical associations. It maintains seven professional committees covering spectacle frames, lenses and blanks, corneal contact lenses, equipment and instruments, optometry, quality standards, and spare parts. COOA is the body responsible for organizing the China International Optics Fair (CIOF) held in Beijing and the Shanghai International Optics Fair (SIOF), two of the largest and most influential optical trade fairs in Asia. These exhibitions attract thousands of exhibitors from across China and internationally, serving the global eyewear and optical instruments industry. COOA also publishes the China Glasses Science-Technology Magazine, the leading professional publication in the sector.
