About ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional political and economic union of fifteen countries located in West Africa, established in 1975. Headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria, ECOWAS aims to promote economic integration and cooperation across the region through the free movement of people, goods, services, and capital. The Community coordinates policies on trade, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and peace and security, representing over 400 million people. ECOWAS institutions organize regional summits, forums, and events to advance regional integration and development.
