International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA)

International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in London under the supervision of the United Nations on July 11, 1968, by inventors from Denmark, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. Established in 1968 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, IFIA has served as a global platform to connect and support inventors, innovators, and institutions dedicated to the advancement of innovation and the protection of intellectual property. The organization is recognized as a public utility organization by the Republic and Canton of Geneva and holds tax-exempt status in Switzerland while also being recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under U.S. federal law. IFIA comprises over 175 member organizations from more than 100 countries, making it one of the world's largest federations supporting inventors and innovation. The organization operates through a General Assembly, Executive Committee, and is led by a President elected for four-year terms. IFIA organizes and supports international invention exhibitions, competitions, conferences, and educational programs worldwide. The federation provides patronage to major invention festivals including the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival, International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, and numerous other innovation events globally. IFIA has observer status at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, observer status at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), consultative status with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and special consultative status from the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The organization publishes the official IFIA Magazine annually, presents various awards including the IFIA Best Invention Medal and Memorial Medal, and operates regional offices across Latin America, Middle East, Turkey, and Central Asia to support inventors and foster innovation collaboration worldwide.
