Sociedad Rural Argentina

Sociedad Rural Argentina (SRA), founded in 1866 by a group of landowners led by Eduardo Olivera, is a long-established civil association representing large agricultural producers and landowners primarily in Argentina's Pampas region. The organization's stated mission includes safeguarding the country's agricultural heritage and fostering its development, promoting rural settlement and improved quality of rural life, advancing techniques and methods applicable to rural activities, and defending agricultural and livestock interests. The SRA's main facility, known as La Rural, is located in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires adjacent to Plaza Italia, spanning approximately 12 hectares and serving as the organization's main exhibition grounds since the early 20th century. Since 1875, the SRA has organized the Exposición de Ganadería, Agricultura e Industria Internacional (commonly known as the Exposición Rural), one of Argentina's longest-running industry exhibitions, focused on agricultural production, livestock breeding, and related industrial sectors. The SRA also recently announced the opening of Casa República, a new institutional, gastronomic, and cultural space at its historic Florida 460 building in Buenos Aires, and the organization offers its members access to exclusive facilities, exhibitions, publications, and educational discounts through its various member benefit programs.
