Henry B. González Convention Center is a premier convention and exhibition facility located in the heart of historic downtown San Antonio, Texas, along the banks of the world-famous River Walk. Named after the late U.S. Congressman Henry Barbosa González, this City-owned facility serves as the central component of San Antonio's successful convention industry. The convention center was originally built as part of HemisFair '68 and has undergone significant expansion and modernization, including a major $325 million renovation completed in 2016. The facility currently features a 1.6 million square foot footprint with over 514,000 square feet of contiguous exhibit space across five exhibit halls, accommodating more than 2,900 standard exhibit booths. The center includes 203,000 square feet of meeting space with over 70 meeting rooms, two ballrooms including the Stars at Night ballroom which is the largest in Texas at 54,000 square feet featuring 652 LED lights overhead, and the adjacent 2,319-seat Lila Cockrell Theatre performing arts venue. The facility hosts more than 300 events annually with over 750,000 convention delegates from around the world, serving diverse industries including technology, healthcare, manufacturing, and trade shows. Key amenities include 35-foot ceilings in exhibit halls, modern technology infrastructure, flexible indoor and outdoor spaces, and stunning artwork reflecting San Antonio's multicultural heritage including a $1 million interactive art installation called Liquid Crystal in the primary lobby. The convention center's strategic location provides attendees with walking distance access to the River Walk, historic attractions, restaurants, shops, and over 3,000 hotel rooms within a block of the facility.
