Huntington Place is the 16th largest convention center in the United States, located in downtown Detroit along the Detroit International Riverfront. Originally opened in 1960 as Cobo Hall in honor of former Detroit Mayor Albert E. Cobo, the facility was built by the City of Detroit and has undergone several name changes, including Cobo Center and briefly TCF Center, before becoming Huntington Place in December 2021. The venue spans 2.4 million square feet and features 723,000 square feet of exhibition space, with 623,000 square feet of contiguous exhibition space across five exhibit halls. The facility includes over 100 meeting rooms with seating capacities ranging from 100 to 1,725 people, and the spectacular 40,000-square-foot Grand Riverview Ballroom with theater seating for 3,500, banquet seating for 2,250, or reception capacity for 4,500 guests. Huntington Place hosts major events including the North American International Auto Show since 1965, Detroit Autorama since 1961, and Youmacon anime convention since 2012. The venue serves diverse industries including automotive, technology, healthcare, consumer goods, and entertainment. Key facilities include extensive parking with 2,246 spaces across multiple garages and rooftop areas, direct access to the Lodge Freeway, Detroit People Mover station connectivity, and proximity to downtown hotels. The facility completed a major $279 million renovation in 2015 and is LEED Gold certified, prioritizing sustainability in operations. Huntington Place is owned by the Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority and operated by Legends Global, maintaining its position as a premier destination for conventions, trade shows, conferences, meetings, and special events in the Great Lakes region.
