52nd District Agricultural Association

52nd District Agricultural Association is a California state-supported agricultural organization established in 1937 that operates the Sacramento County Fair, one of California's premier county fairs. Originally founded in the City of Galt, the organization was transformed from a County Fair to a District Agricultural Association in 1948 and relocated to the State Fairgrounds on Stockton Boulevard in 1954. In 1969, the Sacramento County Fair moved to the new Cal Expo facility where it continues to operate today. The organization is dedicated to educating the community and its youth in agriculture, business and technology through hands-on experiences and traditional fair activities. The Sacramento County Fair has grown significantly since 1991, increasing attendance from 14,000 to over 90,000 visitors annually during Memorial Day weekend. The fair features traditional county fair competitions, agricultural displays, hands-on family activities, carnival attractions, livestock exhibitions, specialty food vendors, and festival-style entertainment including free concerts. The organization operates under the oversight of the California Department of Food and Agriculture and is governed by an appointed Board of Directors. In 2011, the organization formed the Sacramento County Fair Foundation, a 501c3 charitable foundation, to ensure the fair's continued operation and promote agricultural literacy throughout Sacramento County.
