American Society of Anesthesiologists is an educational, research and scientific association of physicians founded in 1905 as the Long Island Society of Anesthetists by nine physicians from Brooklyn, New York. The organization has grown from its humble beginnings to become one of the most influential medical societies in the United States with more than 53,000 members worldwide.
