American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP)

American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) is the world's oldest professional safety society, founded in 1911 in the wake of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire that killed 146 garment workers. The organization serves as a global association of occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals who manage, supervise, research and consult on work-related OSH concerns across all industries. ASSP has grown from its founding to become a leading organization with more than 36,000 members worldwide, representing diverse voices across age, gender and ethnicity from over 75 countries. The organization operates through 151 local chapters, 40 sections and 65 student sections located across 75 countries, with members living in regions including the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia.
