About Asian Oceanian Society of Radiology
The Asian Oceanian Society of Radiology (AOSR) is a regional federation of national radiological societies spanning the Asia-Oceania region, an area the organization notes is home to roughly 60% of the world's population. Its origins trace back to 1969, when delegates from 12 nations met in Tokyo during the International Congress of Radiology to discuss forming a regional society; it has since grown into a federation of more than 20 member societies, including national radiology associations from countries such as Japan, Korea, India, Australia, Singapore, and the Philippines. The society's permanent secretariat moved to Seoul in 2010 under the oversight of the Korean Society of Radiology, after previously being based in Australia. AOSR's flagship activity is the Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology (AOCR), a major scientific meeting held periodically and hosted by different member societies in the region. The organization also runs the Asian Oceanian School of Radiology (AOSOR), established in 2012 to provide structured radiology education and training, and promotes a culture of radiation safety through its AsiaSafe initiative; AOSR celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2021.
