Association for Advancing Automation (A3)

The Association for Advancing Automation (A3) is North America's largest automation trade association, representing more than 1,400 organizations involved in robotics, artificial intelligence, machine vision and imaging, and motion control and motors technologies. A3 was formed through the convergence of three long-standing industry groups: the Robotic Industries Association (RIA), founded in 1974, AIA - Advancing Vision + Imaging, and the Motion Control and Motors Association (MCMA), together with A3 Mexico, bringing more than five decades of combined history under one trade group for the automation ecosystem. The association describes itself as a global advocate for the benefits of automation, supporting member companies that range from technology suppliers and system integrators to distributors, end users, consulting firms and academic institutions. A3 organizes the annual Automate trade show, one of the largest automation and robotics exhibitions in North America, as well as the A3 Business Forum, which brings together several hundred industry leaders each January. The association also provides robot safety training programs, policy advocacy, and technical standards development for the automation industry.
