About British Fashion Council
The British Fashion Council (BFC) is a not-for-profit organization that champions British fashion as a creative force on the world stage, supporting and promoting the UK fashion industry through advocacy, funding, and major public events. Incorporated in 1986, the BFC organizes London Fashion Week and The Fashion Awards, two of the most prominent fixtures on the international fashion calendar, alongside the LONDON show ROOMS platform that helps emerging designers reach international buyers. Through its BFC Foundation and education initiatives, the organization provides funding and resources for emerging talent via programmes such as BFC NEWGEN, the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund, the BFC/GQ Designer Fashion Fund, the BFC Fashion Trust, and scholarships including the QEII Award for British Design. The BFC also runs the Institute of Positive Fashion, its sustainability and inclusion-focused initiative, which publishes research such as the Fashion Minority Report and the Fashion DEI Census to track diversity, equity, and inclusion across the industry. The organization is led by a Board and Committees of appointed fashion industry figures who oversee and advise on key issues facing British design.
