Comikaze Entertainment, Inc. is a Los Angeles-based exhibition organizer founded in 2011 by Regina Carpinelli and her two younger brothers, who were passionate fans of geek culture from Temecula, California. The company was established after recognizing that Los Angeles, the heart of the entertainment industry, lacked its own major comic and pop-culture convention. Starting as an independent, grassroots effort by fans, for fans, the inaugural Comikaze Expo drew tens of thousands of attendees and proved the local demand for such an event. The company is best known for organizing the Los Angeles Comic Con, which has grown from a local showcase featuring 35,000 attendees in 2011 to one of the largest independent conventions in the United States, attracting over 130,000 attendees by 2025. The convention encompasses multiple categories including comics, horror, sci-fi, anime, gaming, and pop culture, with a particular focus on celebrating the diversity of the Los Angeles community. In 2012, the company formed a strategic partnership with comic legend Stan Lee and his company POW! Entertainment, leading to the convention being rebranded as Stan Lee's Comikaze and later Stan Lee's L.A. Comic Con. The company also partnered with Advanstar Communications for operational support. Under the leadership of CEO Chris DeMoulin, who joined the company with extensive experience from Advanstar Communications where he ran major trade shows like MAGIC and Licensing Expo, Comikaze Entertainment has maintained its fan-focused culture while scaling commercially. The company operates with a relatively small but effective team of fewer than ten full-time employees, each wearing multiple hats in areas including talent relations, vendor management, marketing, and sponsor partnerships. The Los Angeles Comic Con features celebrity panels, cosplay contests, artist alleys, gaming tournaments, and a sprawling exhibitor floor with over 800 diverse artists and vendors.
