About Good Sam Academy of Miniatures
Good Sam Academy of Miniatures is a non-profit organization that has been organizing the largest miniature show west of the Mississippi for 50 years. The organization operates the annual Good Sam Showcase of Miniatures, which takes place in San Jose, California, attracting around 22,000 visitors and featuring over 120 exhibitors from across the United States and internationally. The show benefits The Auxiliary of Good Samaritan Hospital, a charitable non-profit organization whose mission is to provide voluntary service and support to the Good Samaritan Hospital community. The Academy component offers multi-day educational classes taught by miniaturists who are leaders in their selected fields, with classes typically held immediately after the annual show at their facility in Morgan Hill, California. The organization serves the dollhouse miniatures community by bringing together artisans, dealers, and collectors, featuring members of the International Guild of Miniature Artisans and offering unique, well-crafted miniatures in various scales including 1-inch, 1/2-inch, and 1/4-inch scale. The show includes workshops, exhibits, youth programs, dealer donation drawings, silent auctions, and educational seminars covering tools, techniques, and various aspects of miniature making. The organization is run entirely by volunteers from the miniature community and operates with a strong commitment to education, community service, and preserving the art of miniature craftsmanship.
