About International Code Council
The International Code Council (ICC), founded in 1994 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a non-governmental membership association and the largest international organization of building safety professionals, dedicated to building safety and fire prevention. ICC develops the International Codes, the model building codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings, including homes and schools, establishing minimum requirements to protect public health and safety, guard against property losses, and provide resilience against both natural and man-made disasters. Beyond codes development, the organization provides a wide range of building safety solutions, including product evaluation and accreditation through its subsidiary ICC-Evaluation Service, certification examinations testing code enforcement and construction knowledge, technical support and plan review consulting, and training for all segments of the construction industry. ICC's codes and standards are referenced internationally in locations such as Macau, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, and the organization assists countries including Mexico, Egypt, Pakistan, and Jamaica on building safety projects, while serving members in more than 50 countries and international chapters in Canada, New Zealand, and Kenya. In the United States, ICC is also at the forefront of promoting building energy codes, helping jurisdictions advance toward net-zero construction in support of national climate goals.
