About NACS (National Association of Convenience Stores)
NACS (originally founded in 1961 as the National Association of Convenience Stores, now operating as 'The Association for Convenience & Fuel Retailing'), headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, is an international trade association representing more than 2,100 retail and 1,600 supplier company members across nearly 50 countries, with the majority based in the United States. NACS serves the convenience and fuel retailing industry by providing industry knowledge, business connections, and advocacy to ensure the competitive viability of its members' businesses, and it conducts market research, hosts conferences and trade shows including the annual NACS Show in Las Vegas, and engages in political and legal advocacy on issues such as motor fuel regulation, debit and credit card swipe fees, and labor law. The U.S. convenience store industry, comprising nearly 152,000 stores selling fuel, food, and merchandise, serves about 160 million customers daily, roughly half of the U.S. population. NACS publishes the NACS State of the Industry Report, the industry's premier benchmark study, along with NACS Magazine, and produces educational resources covering category management, human resources, and marketing to help retailers grow their businesses. The association is led by Henry Armour, Chairman Emeritus and CEO International.
