Octopus Events Group is an event production company founded by some of North America's most iconic fan convention creators and industry veterans. The company was established by a team of experienced professionals who collectively have welcomed over 1,000,000 fans to various events throughout their careers. The founding team includes Jim Demonakos, an award-winning director, writer and event producer who has been active in the comic book and pop culture event industry for over two decades and is one of the founders of Seattle's Emerald City Comic Con, which he developed over 15 years into a premier independent event. He is also the founder of LightBox Expo, which debuted in 2019 and has become a must-attend event for animation, illustration and concept art creators. George Demonakos brings over 20 years of events and operations experience, having co-founded The Comic Stop retail chain and helped establish Emerald City Comic Con from a one-day show with 2,500 attendees to a major event welcoming over 85,000 attendees. Other key team members include Kandrix Foong, founder of Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo with peak attendance exceeding 100,000, and Paula and Ron Brister, co-founders of Rose City Comic Con. The company's mission is to create high-quality, community-driven events that bring fresh fan experiences to new regions, with their inaugural events including Comic Con Nebraska in August 2025 and Comic Con Oakland in May 2026.
