About Otakorp Inc
Otakorp Inc., established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1996 and based in Pennsylvania, is the parent organization that produces Otakon, one of the largest anime conventions on the East Coast of the United States. Founded in 1994 by anime enthusiasts from Pennsylvania State University, Otakon has grown from a small gathering of 350 attendees to one of the premier East Asian pop culture conventions in North America, drawing over 46,000 unique attendees in 2024. Held annually at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., Otakon features anime screenings, cosplay, concerts, panel discussions, artist alleys, vendor halls, and workshops celebrating anime, manga, J-pop, Asian cinema, and gaming. Otakorp is run entirely by volunteers.
