About PPIA Program
The Public Policy and International Affairs Program (PPIA), headquartered at the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, is a not-for-profit organization that has spent more than 40 years supporting efforts to increase diversity in public service. Since 1980, PPIA has worked to cultivate the next generation of diverse public service and international affairs professionals by investing in their education, essential skills, and professional networks. The organization's flagship offering is the Junior Summer Institute (JSI), a rigorous, fully-funded seven-week summer fellowship that prepares rising college juniors for graduate school and careers in public service, currently hosted at sites including Harvard Kennedy School, Princeton University, and the University of Michigan, among other top institutions. PPIA also maintains a Graduate School Consortium of more than 50 leading public policy and international affairs graduate programs across the country that share its commitment to diversity and inclusion, offering PPIA alumni application fee waivers and guaranteed minimum financial awards, along with an alumni network of nearly 4,000 PPIA fellows providing ongoing mentorship and career development opportunities. The organization is led by Interim Executive Director Josh Diosomito, himself a PPIA alumnus.
