Specialty Coffee Association

Specialty Coffee Association is the largest global coffee trade association dedicated to making coffee better by fostering a global coffee community and supporting activities to make specialty coffee a thriving, equitable, and sustainable endeavor for the entire value chain. Established in January 2017 as a result of the unification of the Specialty Coffee Association of America and the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe, the SCA combines rich histories on both sides of the Atlantic and around the world. The former Specialty Coffee Association of America was established in 1982 by a small group of coffee professionals seeking a common forum to discuss issues and set quality standards for the specialty coffee trade, while the former Specialty Coffee Association of Europe was formed at a meeting of representatives of the European coffee community in London in 1998. Through collaboration and progressive approaches, SCA supports the industry through research, standards, education, and events. The organization represents thousands of coffee professionals, from producers to baristas all over the world, bringing together diverse voices across the value chain to spark dialogue, fuel innovation and make coffee a vibrant, relevant force for all. SCA organizes some of the largest annual events on the coffee calendar, including World of Coffee events across multiple continents, the Specialty Coffee Expo in North America, and various professional development programs. The association provides internationally recognized educational programs covering key topics such as barista skills, brewing, roasting, and sensory skills, with more than 1,800 independent educators delivering SCA education program courses in locations around the globe.
