About Storage Networking Industry Association
Storage Networking Industry Association is an American trade association incorporated in December 1997 as a registered 501(c)(6) non-profit organization. SNIA is a global industry organization that develops standards and delivers education on all technologies related to data storage, networking, and information management. The association has more than 185 unique members, 2,000 active contributing members, and over 50,000 IT end users and storage professionals worldwide. SNIA's mission is to lead the storage industry worldwide in developing and promoting vendor-neutral architectures, standards, and educational services that facilitate the efficient management, movement, and security of information. The organization operates through various technical working groups and has published over 120 vendor-neutral standards, many of which have been ratified as international standards. SNIA organizes major industry events including the Storage Developer Conference (SDC), which brings together solution-seeking developers, engineers, architects, product managers, and technical marketing managers. The association previously hosted the popular Storage Networking World (SNW) Conferences from 1999 to 2013 at various venues around the world. SNIA also maintains partnerships with other industry standards organizations such as ISO, IEC, DMTF, CXL, INCITS T10, T11, IETF, and IEEE. The organization absorbed the Small Form Factor Committee in 2016 and continues to promote technologies related to storage, transport, optimization of infrastructure, acceleration, format, and protection of data through vendor-neutral collaboration.
