About Tashichho Dzong
Tashichho Dzong (also known as Trashichhoe Dzong) is a historic Buddhist monastery and fortress complex in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, serving as the seat of the Bhutanese government and a center of religious authority. Built in the 17th century and extensively reconstructed in the 1960s under the direction of the third King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the Dzong houses the throne room and offices of the King of Bhutan, the Cabinet Secretariat, and key government ministries. Tashichho Dzong also serves as the summer residence of Je Khenpo (the Chief Abbot) and monks of the Central Monk Body. As Bhutan's administrative and spiritual center, it hosts official state ceremonies, religious festivals, and national events including the spectacular Thimphu Tsechu.
