About The Society of Vacuum Coaters
The Society of Vacuum Coaters is a non-profit, international, professional organization founded in 1957 and incorporated in 1985 under the non-profit corporation law of the District of Columbia. The organization is primarily devoted to coating and surface finishing using vacuum processes and serves as the global source for learning, applying and advancing vacuum coating, surface engineering, and related technologies. SVC consists of industry, academia and members from national research laboratories, with industrial membership including coating companies, materials suppliers, process designers, and equipment manufacturers. The organization's stakeholders apply coatings and treatments to a wide variety of consumer and industrial products across all business sectors with a global perspective. Every year SVC holds a six-day event called TechCon consisting of tutorials, technical presentations, industrial workshops, networking events, and an international trade exhibition. The educational program is regarded as the industry benchmark with over 50 in-person tutorials and almost two dozen streaming on-demand subjects. SVC offers extensive resources including year-round education programs, technical publications, annual conference proceedings, SVC Bulletin Magazine, and educational guides. The organization also operates the SVC Foundation established in 2002 which provides scholarships and travel awards to students and industry professionals. SVC has been hosting their annual tradeshow with over 100 exhibitors for more than 25 years and conducts smaller conferences throughout the year.
