About USA Gymnastics
USA Gymnastics is the national governing body for gymnastics in the United States, established in 1963 as the U.S. Gymnastics Federation and renamed USA Gymnastics in 1993. Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, the organization oversees six disciplines of gymnastics including acrobatic, artistic, gymnastics for all, parkour, rhythmic, and trampoline and tumbling. USA Gymnastics is the only organization recognized by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the International Gymnastics Federation, making it solely responsible for overseeing the sport from grassroots through elite levels, including selecting and training U.S. teams for Olympic Games, World Championships, and other top-tier international events. The organization serves nearly 240,000 individual members including athletes, coaches, parents, volunteers, judges, and club owners across more than 2,500 independently operated organizations. USA Gymnastics operates as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, receiving no governmental funding and supporting its programs through membership fees, sponsorships, USOPC High Performance Funding, advertising, event ticket sales, grants, donations, and merchandise sales. The organization is committed to creating a culture that encourages and supports athletes while focusing on safety and well-being as its highest priority. USA Gymnastics organizes major national competitions including the USA Gymnastics National Congress and Trade Show, which brings together gymnastics professionals from across the country for educational presentations, demonstrations, and trade exhibitions covering topics such as coaching, judging, business operations, sports science, fitness, and safe sport practices.
