About Western Dredging Association (WEDA)
The Western Dredging Association (WEDA), founded in 1979 and headquartered in Media, Pennsylvania, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit scientific and educational association serving the dredging industry across North, Central, and South America. WEDA is one of three regional members of the World Organization of Dredging Associations (WODA), alongside the Central Dredging Association (CEDA), which covers Europe, Africa, and the Mid and Near East, and the Eastern Dredging Association (EADA), which covers the Far East and Pacific region. The association's primary objectives include promoting the exchange of knowledge in dredging, navigation, marine engineering, and construction through technical conferences, seminars, and symposiums, supporting educational institutions for students pursuing careers in dredging and marine engineering, and recognizing individuals and organizations for outstanding engineering and safety achievement. WEDA operates regional chapters, including Midwest, Eastern, and Pacific chapters, and hosts major industry events such as the World Dredging Congress & EXPO (WODCON) and the annual Dredging Summit & Expo, alongside specialized programs like the WEDA Fellow scholarship program and the Safety Excellence Award recognizing exceptional safety performance among dredging industry trade partners. The association is led by Executive Director Jessica Bridges, CAE, IOM.
